I received this book as part of Jillian’s ARC group… and I’m so glad I get to read her books early!
In this second installment of Jillian Dodd’s Eastbrooke Academy series, we find Aubrey Lane Arrington battling the murky waters of Eastbrooke Academy’s social life. Between her torn feelings about boys, unethical use of social media, loss of friends, and making new ones, Arrington seems to be finding her Eastbrooke “sea legs.” When new conflicts arise, will Arrington choose to stay or go?
As an adult reader, I have to appreciate how well Jillian Dodd seems to understand the mental state of a teenage mind. She makes me cringe in sympathy and cheer for Arrington and her friends, even when, as an adult, I can foresee the conflict and teenage missteps that will make this series a fascinating mix of drama, strife, love, laughter, and angst. Ms. Dodd keeps me glued to my book and on the edge of my seat. I wish I could reach into the pages of this book to both hug and shake Arrington as she navigates some significant decisions in a way that only a teenager can.
Finally… AGAIN WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS!!! Why do we have to wait so long for the next book in a series? 😜
