I have been delighted to read M. A. Lakewood’s first published novel, The Reluctant Queen. Set in Selwas, a Regency-inspired fantasy world, Lakewood paints a vivid universe with highly descriptive settings and characters.
Her main characters of King Ehmet and Lady Hevva are captivating in their humanity, balancing the responsibilities and dreams in a way that makes me want to visit Selwas again and again.
While you will definitely find romance and open-door love scenes, I did not find The Reluctant Queen to be overly spicy. So, for those of you who love great storytelling with your romance, you won’t be disappointed.
