In this fourth installment of the Eastbrooke Academy series by Jillian Dodd, we return to Eastbrooke after Arrington’s and her friends’ weekend yacht party.  She’ll meet with her parents and find out her and her brothers’ fates regarding their continued enrollment at school.

She also has a music video to film, classes, homework, dance, her friends, her boyfriend Auggie, and her complex feelings for Beckham and Branson.

Out of the four books in this series, First Loves Are Hard To Forget is my favorite.  Unfortunately, I cannot divulge why this is my favorite without providing a spoiler… and I never do that.  This book finds Arrington’s character growing quite a bit of emotional maturity.  While the teenage angsty drama is still evident, and I definitely project some Mean Girls vibes into some of the female students at Eastbrooke, Arrington is beginning to look at the world and the people around her beyond her relatively narrow perspective.  She takes deliberate steps outside her comfort zone, and what she learns tilts her world on its axis.

I can’t wait for the next installment because I can’t decide whether I am Team Auggie, Team Beckham, or Team Branson. Arrington may not know where her future lies, either.

First Loves Are Hard to Forget officially releases on August 9! Pre-order and purchaing links are below.
