A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
I did not read the “About the Book” blurb for A Court of Silver Flames, so I was not expecting to find a book centered around Nesta. I am, however, thrilled that Sarah J. Maas chose to focus on Nesta, who I believe has undergone so much more trauma than we expected. Nesta is not easy to love. She is prickly, angry, indolent, and a snob. When living in poverty, she did nothing to help her family. As a high fae, she let the atrocities she suffered override her will to live. If anyone ever needed an intervention, it was Nesta.
I do not want to go into details. Still, once you get behind the facade of being a supporting character and actually get into Nester’s thoughts, I don’t see how a person can avoid developing sympathy for her… or becoming her cheerleader.
The strength that Nesta and her eventual friends develop throughout this book is phenomenal. I believe it lays the foundation for the power required to conquer the next threat that the Night Court and all of Prythia will have to overcome.
I also love how humanizing her journey is, as is her love story. I do not want to ruin the coming love story, so I will not say anything about it other than… swoon!
I hope that this is not the end of the series. I’ve heard there is supposed to be a book 6, but so far, there isn’t information about it. Still, I want to know what happens with Elain, Lucian, Azriel, Mor, Amren, and even Tamlin and Eris. There’s so much still to tell… to resolve.
