“Heaven Has No Rage…”

Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor Hell a fury like a woman scorned

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Continuing the story of Feyra Archeron, Tamlin High Lord of the Spring Court, Lucian, and Rhys find us in the quiet aftermath of Under the Mountain. The newly freed courts are diligently rebuilding their lands and offering aid to their people while shoring up political alliances. In the Spring Court, Tamlin and Feyra are trying to heal from all the trauma they incurred while Under the Mountain.

This brings me to one aspect of Sarah J. Maas’s storytelling that I have appreciated. Ms. Maas did not shy away from the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. While it certainly is not referred to as PTSD, both Feyra and Tamlin have very different approaches to life after being Under the Mountain. Feyra cannot paint nor be around anything red, as it brings to mind some of the life-altering decisions she has to make. Tamlin, who felt that he could only protect Feyra by ignoring her, wants to protect her at all costs. He cannot realize when his protective instincts are actually causing her harm.

Also hanging over Feyra’s and Tamlin’s relationship is Feyra’s deal with Rhys from A Court of Thorns and Roses. Tamlin cannot stand the thought of Feyra being away from him, but he has to relinquish her to Rhysand of the Night Court for one week every month. Feyra is terrified about what that time will mean.

Little by little, the gift of life given to Feyra by all of the High Lords in Prythian begins to manifest in powers, and Feyra must decide who can best help her navigate this new world. She will also be forced into even harder choices than in ACOTAR.

I genuinely hate spoilers, and I feel like I have already said too much, but this book will leave you perched on the edge of your seat…so get all the books. You will need to binge-read them all. It won’t even matter how late at night it is.
